Juhani Riekkolan Tampere

Juhani Riekkola is one of the most famous photographers of his time in Finland. During his almost half a century long career, he has photographed Tampere, its cityscape, people and culture.

In addition to internationally awarded art photographs, Riekkola has produced versatile photo reports, strong portraits, skillful architecture photos, carefully arranged theater photos and wonderful advertising photos for many well-known Tampere companies.

Riekkola is known for his documentary photography work, and he is one of the pioneers of Finnish photography.

This photographic work dedicated to Tampere has been assembled from a collection of thousands of photographs donated by Juhani Riekkola to the Museum Centre Vapriikki photo archive in 2003.
