Juhani Riekkola is one of the most famous photographers of his time in Finland. During his almost half a century long career, he has photographed Tampere, its cityscape, people and culture.<\/p>\n
In addition to internationally awarded art photographs, Riekkola has produced versatile photo reports, strong portraits, skillful architecture photos, carefully arranged theater photos and wonderful advertising photos for many well-known Tampere companies.<\/p>\n
Riekkola is known for his documentary photography work, and he is one of the pioneers of Finnish photography.<\/p>\n
This photographic work dedicated to Tampere has been assembled from a collection of thousands of photographs donated by Juhani Riekkola to the Museum Centre Vapriikki photo archive in 2003.<\/p>\n
